Our client requires technical design consultants with a broad knowledge of ICT (information and communications technology) infrastructure including: equipment room design, structured cabling systems, LAN/WAN technologies and IP Telephony. The role will require the ability to assess client requirements, develop and present technical options, produce specifications and project manage the procurement and implementation of associated systems. Experience of working with clients, design teams and contractors involved with multi disciplinary buildings projects is also important. The position is London based with opportunity for UK and International travel.
Responsibilites
* Carry out feasibility studies and master planning activities for ICT based solutions involving research into both technical and commercial issues
* Produce concept design options based on client requirements and present these as written reports and presentations
* Provide design input and advice on the impact of ICT systems on building design
* Develop specifications and produce tender documentation for ICT cabling, systems and networks
* Manage project teams, train and motivate junior staff
* Attend meetings with other consultants, contractors and the client to exchange information and co-ordinate project activities
* Assess tender responses, liaise with contractors and other project team members and make recommendations for award of contract
* During the implementation phase visit site to check conformance of the systems specified and prepare handover documentation
Requirements
* Graduate or graduate calibre, with a qualification in telecommunications, computing or electronics
* Minimum of 3 years experience demonstrating the ability to provide high quality consultancy to clients in a way which will enhance our reputation for design and management of important and complex projects
* Experience of designing and specifying ICT infrastructure in areas such as commercial office buildings, hospitals, hotels, conference centres and airports
* Some previous experience in a consultancy environment is desirable. Otherwise work with a user, manufacturer, carrier or systems house may be acceptable
* A detailed working knowledge in some or all of the following: cabling systems; physical and logical architectures and configuration of data networks; voice systems and unified communications; IP and convergence of voice, data and image. An understanding of associated design practices, performance standards and regulations
* A team player who can work effectively with personnel at all levels
* Creative and persuasive personality, a self starter, able to be both forceful and tactful
* Business oriented with the ability to address complex ICT issues
* Clear and fluent communicator, both in written and spoken delivery
